Solar Lighting for Enhanced Safety in Yemen

A landmark solar infrastructure project was completed in Yemen in 2023, deploying 350 sets of high-power solar street lighting systems. This large-scale initiative was designed to deliver reliable, sustainable illumination in areas where grid access is unreliable or non-existent, directly contributing to public safety and community resilience.

The installation featured the robust CONCO split-type solar street lights, with an 80W output mounted on tall 9-meter poles. This specific high-wattage, split-type configuration—where the solar panel and battery are separate from the lamp—allows for superior heat dissipation and extended battery life, which is crucial for longevity in demanding environments. The significant pole height ensures wide-area coverage, making it ideal for securing perimeters, lighting major streets, and illuminating public gathering spaces.

By providing autonomous, zero-carbon lighting, this project mitigates risks associated with energy volatility and reduces dependence on fuel generators. The installation of 350 units creates a substantial network of reliable light points, enhancing nighttime security, supporting social and economic activities after dark, and building foundational infrastructure for community stability and future development.
